Milne Fruit Products Careers

Milne Fruit Products is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Mechanic in Prosser, WA to repair, maintain and troubleshoot industrial food processing machinery.  This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing company that values its workforce and has a 50 year track record of excellence. 

This position assists the Maintenance Mechanic Leader in all functional and operational aspects of plant maintenance operations, including troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, refrigeration and plumbing systems.  Specialized skills in the repair and maintenance of LPG powered vehicles and battery/propane operated lift trucks desired.

This is a skilled position at the journeyman level in several trades.  An employee in this class performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of production machinery and equipment.  Work involves primary responsibility for proficiency in several trades, with working conditions and the degree of supervision exercised differing according to the location and nature of assignments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• mechanical skill and aptitude in multiple areas

• rolling stock (fork lift, trucks, etc)

          • three-phase electrical systems

          • ammonia systems

          • boilers

• food processing equipment

• strong work ethic

• team player and pride in quality work

• safety orientation

• leadership potential

 

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Additional training such as that acquired in the first two years of college or training in skilled trade areas or equivalent technical training.

• Four years’ experience in maintenance, electrical, refrigeration, or mechanical field.

• Demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations. 

• Advance knowledge of various types of equipment used in manufacturing plant ability to work with little or no supervision, ability to do heavy lifting and good general physical condition. 

• Skilled working knowledge in the areas of fleet maintenance, hydraulic systems, plumbing, electrical, construction and air conditioning equipment. 

• Knowledge of skilled mechanical concepts.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Other Skill and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical circuitry, mechanical, analytical, refrigeration, plumbing and welding. 

• Considerable knowledge of materials and tools used in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing trade. 

• Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved. 

• good math, language, reading and communication skills

• lift 50-100 lbs, climb ladders, stairs and work at multiple heights

• valid driver’s license

• work rotating shifts and required overtime

Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen, a background check, a pre-employment physical capacities check and submit a driving record abstract.
